Effective October 1, 2026.
Program
LACoFD AOC Alerts is the text-message program of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Association of Chiefs (the “Association”). Messages are sent from (213) 723-0605 to members who have provided a cell phone number and agreed to receive texts.
What members receive
One-time codes to confirm a phone number or to sign in to the member website, reminders for Association meetings and events, notices from the Executive Board, and notices when a vote opens. The Association does not send advertising or promotional messages, and it does not send messages on behalf of any other organization.
How to opt in
A member can opt in on the Text Alerts page by entering a name and cell phone number and checking the consent box. A member also opts in by entering a cell phone number and checking the text-message consent box when registering on the Association’s website, or by confirming consent to the Secretary. Consent is recorded with the date, time, and network address.
A member can also opt in, or opt back in after opting out, by texting START (or RESUME, YES, SUBSCRIBE, or JOIN) to (213) 723-0605. The reply is: “LACoFD AOC: You are opted in to texts from the Los Angeles County Fire Dept Association of Chiefs (meeting notices, reminders, account codes). Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.”
Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies with Association business; most members receive a few messages a month. Message and data rates may apply according to the member’s carrier plan. The Association does not charge for messages.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. The Association sends one message confirming the opt-out and no further texts. Members can also ask the Secretary to turn texts off. Turning texts off also turns off text codes for sign-in and account recovery; members who need those codes can turn texts back on by texting START to (213) 723-0605.
Help
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or email [email protected].
Carriers
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on the member’s carrier and device.
Privacy
How the Association handles phone numbers and other member information is described in the Privacy Policy. Mobile phone numbers and text-message consent are not shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
